Ladies and gentlemen,
Distinguished participants,

On behalf of the Ministry of Energy of Romania, I am very pleased to welcome the participants of the sixth Black Sea Oil & Gas Conference, an already well-known regional event of the oil and gas industry!

There is no doubt that, over the years, this conference has become a significant event that provides a platform for highly professional dialogue among key industry specialists.

Romania has a privileged position at the Black Sea and we have to capitalize on the potential of this production and distribution area, of strategic importance for regional energy security with significant hydrocarbon resources, therefore the development of the Black Sea resources is a priority for Romania, as well as attracting investments and continuing collaboration with companies that have the know-how and necessary technology. The extremely encouraging findings from the Black Sea, together with onshore geological resources potential, not only provide the country with the prospect of new and significant development of oil and gas reserves, but can give to this region a central role in strengthening the energy security of both Romania and the entire region,

In the first semester of 2019 Romania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union and I can assure you that the energy topics will have a very important place on the agenda of the Presidency. I would like to underline that Romania support the development of international cooperation aimed to ensure an integrated energy market and secure transit corridors, We firmly believe that promotion of new cooperation initiatives in the region and enhancement of the existing ones will lead to increased global energy stability. Building on the experience and willingness of each one of us, we put in practice projects that are mutually beneficial and support the economic development of our countries by promoting “win to win” principle in business.

I am confident that the 6th Black Sea Oil & Gas Conference, as in past years, will confirm its status as a business platform that allows close examination of the prospects of the hydrocarbon reserves in the region and of infrastructure development, highlighting the growing importance that the Black Sea region holds in the global oil and gas market.

Therefore, I would like to wish all the participants fruitful discussions, shared experience and interesting exchange of opinions in the framework of this important event and a very enjoyable stay in Bucharest!

Anton Anton
