Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am glad to welcome the participants of the fifth Downstream Project Management conference! This two-day event is a unique platform where the experts meet each other to exchange knowledge, share best practice and generate new ideas in project management in the refining and petrochemical industry.

I am very happy to offer participants a possibility to visit out site! If not this site, which other site can act as a role model? Ludwigshafen is BASF’s headquarters and our biggest production site. Its location, size and Verbund plays an important part in BASF’s business. Covering an area of approximately ten square kilometers, the Verbund site at Ludwigshafen in the world’s largest continuous chemical facility.

I am confident that this site-visit will provide delegates with a unique opportunity to explore operational and technical excellence of productivity and safety of the site.

I hope that the conference will give an additional impetus to new developments in project management and you will keep good memories of your stay in Frankfurt and Ludwigshafen.
