The Head of Project Office, Alexander Andreev, and the Head of Project Management, Dmitry Proskurin, will present KAO AZOT at the Frankfurt conference.
This year AZOT signed contracts for construction of nitric acid and hydrogen plants, in financial partnership with VTB Bank. The construction will take 28 months, the facilities will be put into operation in early 2021. The capacity of the nitric acid plant will be 500 tons per day. This will be the third section of the nitric acid unit. The facility will be built using the technology of American company KBR.
The equipment and technology for hydrogen production unit will be purchased from Linde AG. The unit will work on natural gas, producing 25 thousand cubic meters of hydrogen per hour. General contractor, St. Petersburg company Step, will be responsible for equipment supply and construction of the facility. At the same time, AZOT plans to conduct technical re-equipment of the ammonium nitrate unit and install new equipment at two operational ammonia plants.
Also, AZOT plans to invest about $150mln in a project called ‘Modern Plastics Plant’. Within the project’s framework it plans to increase caprolactam production from 116 to 150 thousand tons per year and start the production of polyamide 6. The company also plans to start the production of soda ash and adipic acid with a volume of 5 thousand tons per year, and the components of emulsion explosives with a total capacity of 100 thousand tons per year.
