Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
On behalf of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I am pleased to welcome the participants and guests of the Fifth International Downstream Caspian and Central Asia conference.
The global oil and gas industry is on the edge of technological and structural reforms. Large-scale refining and petrochemical modernisation and construction projects are still a priority for the oil and gas sector development in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The largest modernisation project, the reconstruction of three oil refineries – Pavlodar, Atyrau and Shymkent – is expected to be completed by the end of 2018. Oil products capacities of Kazakhstan will also be boosted by the construction of the fourth.
It is therefore difficult to overestimate the importance of professional dialogue involving senior representatives of state bodies and key experts in the oil and gas sector of the Central Asian countries.
Over the past five years, the international conference «Downstream Caspian and Central Asia» has turned into the largest business platform dedicated to the oil refining and petrochemical industry in the region.
I am convinced that all suggestions and recommendations developed during the conference will strengthen the inter-industry relations and mark an important milestone of development within Caspian and Central Asia.
I wish all guests and participants productive work, successful projects and new achievements.
