Turkmenistan started test production of petroleum from natural gas

The construction and assembly work at the plant for the production of synthetic gasoline from natural gas, which is being built in the Ahal region of Turkmenistan, has been completed, and the test trials of the new enterprise have been launched, Interfax reports.

The plant has already conducted tests of water treatment systems, steam production and electricity. These units are already operated by engineers of the Turkmengas state concern. Currently, preparations are underway for test work at the gasoline production unit.

With the commissioning of the enterprise, which is scheduled for 2019, about 800 jobs will be created additionally. Previously planned to enter production in 2018.

The company is located in Hovhan Depe, near Ashgabat. The volume of investments is almost $ 1.7 billion. With the output at the design capacity, the complex will annually process 1.785 billion cubic meters of natural gas and produce 600 thousand tons of A-92 gasoline according to the Euro-5 standard, 12 thousand tons of refined diesel fuel and 115 thousand tons of liquefied gas.

Construction of the plant began in 2013. Japanese company Kawasaki Heavy Industry Ltd. was chosen as the general contractor of the project. The Turkish company Rönesans Turkmen performed contract work.
